My Computer Has 200 MB Left

Oh, I never thought I'd live to see the day. It's much too terrifying. I always thought that I would have my life taken from me or take it myself before this day. But it has arrived...and too soon. And at an inconvenient time. And a bad place. Drat.

Between my mom's wedding, the episode of Sticky-D, my music, my pictures, my C&C games, video game trailers and sermons, I have around 20 GB taken up. That leaves 40 GB floating around for various malware programs.

And that's only counting the heavy-hitters that register 1 GB or over, not the (seemingly countless) 200-300 MB programs, like haCkU.exe, or sLowurComp, or Spion-you.

After some managing, I have 13.2 GB free. An idea struck me. I could just upgrade my laptop's hard drive (as opposed to getting an external hard drive). This has a measly-feeble 80 GB, and on top of that, it's 4200 RPM. I guess that's cool, as it keeps my laptop nice and cool. I hear these horror stories about people who have higher RPM drives falling asleep with their laptop on their lap and waking up and there's nothing left but charred bones about the laptop location, typically their lap.

(I just now loaded my beloved voice recorder's contents into the Audio Dropper file, so I'm going to wipe the recorder. It's formating...formatting...formatting...GONE! Boy, "format" options amaze me! So quick and could ruin so much. 457 MB into thin storage space!)

It seems I could double the capacity of this drive for the cost of an external hard drive; for another $70, I could triple it. 250 GB.

That'd mean that I could have everything on my computer- think of the lawsuits! Then, in the case of fire (or catastrophic manifestation of God's wrath, such as "thunderragebolts"), I could grab my computer. That'd mean I can blog about the firefighters' progress as my house burns down, or the local priest's progress as he attempts to stop the raging thunderous lightning bolts. But...it wouldn't take long at all to fill 250 GB if you're talking video.

An external hard drive- one backed up by DVD copies or not used at all- would be my best bet. I still need to organize me and my mom's pictures. If I can ever figure out why my system backup discs won't burn I'd gain another 14 GB. Let me try that again; it'd just make elves fall from the sky of my world if it worked. Oh boy, it's writing to disc. Like it always does, then it stops.

Still writing; it's been 7 minutes, and it hasn't moved one percent from the typical freeze-point of 33. It's so depressive. Oh, boy, it's at 39%! That's 6 percent over the failure percentage. My hopes, they're a-rising!

Whoa! 56%! A green pair of stockings just fell from the sky! Either Link and Midna just blasted off to the Gerudo Desert, or it's gonna rain elves! 63%- I'M SMELLING PINE TREES!

Stage two of post:
Kev chronicles his adventures in "DVD backup disc creation land."

71%! I can hear the little jerks scream as they fall from the heavens! 74%!

86%! I am in disbelief. I roughly seem to remember my first Metroid Prime completion percentage was 86%. Regardless- the elves, I can see them a-falling!

It's at 91%! Hopes, don't stop rising now! Argh! 96%! It can't be! It's over NINE THOUSAAAAAND...sorry. Oh, I love that joke. Oh no...now I sound like a nerd! I don't watch DBZ anymore! I always hated it! I just like the joke because it's a horrific reminder of embarrassing voice acting. That's a clean, unedited clip, by the way...not sped up, rotated, with other scenes patched in and annoying beeps. Leave it to someone named "Metroid 149" to leave the original. Now I've gone and Carried on like a School Girl. And mentioned Metroid.

AHH, ELVES ARE ALL AROUND ME, THEY ALL WANT CANDY CANES AND PINE TREES AND I HAVE NEITHER! Disc one created! It actually worked! I can't believe it! I think I peed my pants! YES! Yes, I DID pee my pants! And it did work! Now if the others will only burn (3 to go), I can be rid of the 14 GB backup files. I will read Chuck Norris' book, Against All Odds, while I wait for it to finish. It got here today, and it is interesting.

The process is at 33%. Oh, feel the hope I have. 58%, and 10 minutes later. 75%, 10 minutes later. Oog, he just described his dad as an "alcoholic gypsy." Lol! Boy, I sure do appreciate my dad. He's a good guy. Yilk. 10 minutes later, the second disc is done. It's magic.

Ah. So, true courage is not the absence of fear, but the control of it. OK. He made a typo on page 30. Called his brother "Weiland" instead of "Wieland." What horrible proof-readers. I sit judging. There may have been a typo on page 38- "tang so do" instead of "tang soo do." It could very well be some Jedi pluralistic word trick.

Some time later, the third is at 90%. I have to charge my camera battery. It's charging. Egg. The process stopped...the third disc was rejected, ruining the DVD. Now I've ruined another DVD trying again, and now I've got a third disc in the drive, hoping it will burn...it's been 10 minutes, and has not progressed beyond the 33%. It's trying now, though. Good, it "caught."

Goodness, it's done. One more to go. I did not expect this would take six hours at all! I expected sitting back right now, enjoying a refreshing glass of ...uhh, refreshment...and watching the clouds roll by. Or...actually, no, I wanted to be sleeping. I'm going to go make my bed.

79%. Oh boy. I can taste my pillow already.

Oh, boy! It's done, it's done, I can go die now! My life is finished! Hooray!

After all these months, what seems like years, trying 3 other times with much failure, I've finally burned the discs! I can forever say "goodbye" to the recovery files!

I don't know if I delete them or not. I'll have to see. Tomorrow. I'm going to go sleep. Our eldest dog Hannah died today, by the way.

Cleaning my Room -- Thanksgiving post #3

It's that time again. Time to clean my room. It isn't too bad. There's just a bunch of sparkling water cans and stuff. The biggest problem is the cat food spilled everywhere. Cats. Also, I'm still oblivious to the method of clothes management. No one has taught me how to handle clothes. I mean, I was 8 or 9 when I first got the idea that I should always wear at least shorts or underwear.

The reason? I'm preparing for Thanksgiving. I need a clean room with which to play Metroid Prime 3: Corruption in on the big day. Yee!

I had to clear out some tapes which were in my way. I threw out Out for Justice, Waterboy, Above the Law, The Day After Tomorrow, Scrooged, Home Alone 2, An American Tail 1 and (presumably) 2, The Matrix Revisited, The Great Outdoors, and Elektra, among some others, such as Top Gun. I am not a movie fan. In any definition of the word. Movies suck.

Then I ran into a problem. I have stuff in my room that I...don't necessarily need, but don't have reason of space constraint to destroy. One of those things is the Left Behind series. I have books 1-11 of the main series (it's got 4 prequels, I think, and one more "mainquel" that I do not have), and some 10-15 books of the "kids" series. The kids series is 40 books long if memory serves.

While I don't dislike the series entirely, I feel no need for it. Only half of the books are in good condition, and it would be difficult to sell them one by one. I now see how my parents feel. Except, I don't have the 40 years of mental conditioning to hoard everything. Poor guys. They've really raised me and my brother well, all things considered. He (my brother) had 95% of his belongings thrown out a year ago and he still doesn't care. My Dad had 10% of his jun-...belongings thrown out several years ago and it caused mental deterioration to the point that he is unable to remember where anything is or if he still has anything.

So, I suppose I'm going to box them up, then send them to Savers.

OK, they're boxed in an oatmeal box and ready for transport. Now, my room is vacuumed and cleaned. Not necessarily in that order. Instead of cleaning my room, from now on I should just blog about cleaning it. Then it'll get cleaned twelve times faster!

I'll be curious to see if I really have been sleeping badly because of my room; my bed hasn't felt this comfortable for a long while. A long, long while. I am so sleepy. Also, I am catching my Mom's flu or cold or fever or what have you (I am not a mom, so I cannot tell what it is). So tired...now my Mom is having a breakdown and needs me to stay up with her for several hours. I really dislike that darn chihuahua. No one likes him. But he's too pathetic to hate...

My Mom did the Thanksgiving shopping- or at least the brunt of it- today. I can't believe Thanksgiving is 5 days away! And it's almost tomorrow, then it'll be 4! She got cranberries (fresh), canned pumpkin (not "pie flavored"), two pie shells (that's OK, we have two more in the freezer; I have to make two pecan pies to accompany the pumpkin pies), one graham cracker crust, one "shortbread" crust, potatoes, canned yams- fresh yams- and marshmallows, and the turkey.

We aren't sure if we need canned yams to use the marshmallows on or not. We don't want anyone to die...so we'll counsel with a recipe book. I really like the idea of baking marshmallows onto, basically, a potato. And a potato, is, basically, an onion. So it's like spreading marshmallow creme between two slices of onion and calling it a sandwich. I dare you to try it.

She also got the ingredients for the "salad." We call it the "salad" side, but it is a vegetable dip plate (salad's way too much to worry about on Thanksgiving, a veggie plate is not!). Cucumbers, carrots, cauliflower, and celery. We also make a "pickled" plate, which has green olives, black olives, and Clausen pickles. Sadly, in recent years, the black olives...have severely deteriorated in taste and texture quality.

Oh, eww. I got a can of Early California black olives the other day- like the best black olive on the market (that is, for a halfway reasonable price; this is for macaroni salad, people)- and they tasted like olives you get off of a tree uncured. Yuck. Missing was the distinct, sweet, sweet taste of sodium hydroxide.

If you didn't know, sodium hydroxide is "codename," let's say, for "lye." Caustic soda is my favorite term. How...sinister.

...just talking about lye makes me want to not sweat and feel all paranoid and such. If you get a flake of that on your skin...it will react with any moisture on you...and burn the hell out of you, and it feels like a sting. Fun stuff to work with. Your mind plays tricks on you and makes you think you got some on you. My Dad doesn't really mind lye all that much; he worked at a chemical plant (what else would he do with his Master's Degree in pouring?), and I guess lye is nothing compared to some chemicals.

One time, he got some stuff on him that was so bad, apparently he is still irritated by it. It's something to do with what it does to skin cells, I think. I'll interrogate him about it later.

Also, apparently, there's a certain chemical that completely eats up the oxygen from a room. I wonder how easy it would be to kill someone with that. I suppose, this year, since the black olives taste like pure horror, perhaps we should spend a little extra and get those ones in the deli. Because the normal black olives are so bad I reckon soon they won't be able to sell them.

So many tags. 5 days to Thanksgiving!

"Goosebumps"

Well, I am a nostalgic person, you surely know that. I am nostalgic by nature. My middle name is "Nostalgicsky." My first name in Greek means Nostalgia, and my last name in ancient, pyramid-dwelling Egyptian means Nostalgia. My middle name means Nostalgia in Russian.

I have heard all three tales I ordered. The Werewolf of Fever Swamp was like, the first book I EVER read (part of it I read waiting at the DMV with my Mom). Followed by Harry Potter 1, 2, 3, 4, and finally 5, I think (I was never much of a reader - especially of the Bible! EEYUCK!). The last one I finished in 1.5 or so days I was so desperate to get it over with. If I bought the book, I threw it out. Good books, as in the story pace and writing, but one of the very first things I ever discerned as... ah... not right. I wasn't even a Christian when I felt they were too demonic for me to read.

I ordered The Werewolf of Fever Swamp, Stay Out of the Basement, and The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight, all by R.L. Stine. The other Goosebumps book I read was How I Learned to Fly, I think. And one more about a type writer. Another about a haunted mask. I guess there was a TV show...man, I was young. Like, I don't even know if I was born yet. Probably not.

I loved the story of The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight. Or maybe that was something to do with lawn gnomes. Oh well, we'll see.

The Werewolf of Fever Swamp: $4.24
Stay Out of the Basement: $4.24
The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight: $4.24
The nostalgic value they bring: Priceless

I should expect the first one tomorrow. Let's see just how evil I don't remember them being.

When it Ships, it Pours 3

Once again, the mailbox was full. Observe:

The, I suppose, Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Sewing arrived. The package was in such horrible condition, it was basically just two pieces of paper on each side of the book. Both sides were falling apart, and I didn't even have to harm the paper further to remove it. Shame. The book is huge- bigger than a normal book, anyway, so put away your thoughts on Reader's Digest material. This is nothing like their puny magazine. Or...whatever it is.

Another book came for my Mom, but I don't feel at liberty to disclose the title.

Also, Every Heart Restored arrived. Uhh, however, it is the workbook. So it's, like, for wives in the throws of their husbands' sexual impurities. Which I may never understand. I am really beginning to think something is wrong with me.

The book for parents in the Every Man series of books, preparing your son for every man's battle [sic sic sic], arrived. The only problem is, I didn't order it! Agh! Two wrong books. Actually, my Mom ordered it. Yeah, Mom- about 8 years late. Every Young Man's Battle should show up soon, and it's supposedly more graphic than this book. That's a scary thought.

I read about a fifth of the book today (computer troubles, meaning...lots of idle time babysitting it), and it's so weird. They're going on and on about how men are idiots and can't communicate their feelings, how they're so stupid, but they have ONE redeeming quality: stories! Men relate stories to bond. And that's true.

Yet at the same time ...everything is a story. What isn't a story? What you thought five minutes ago was a story. This I am telling you right now is a story. Telling your spouse something difficult is a story of how you feel.

On and on. "Oh, I can't tell my son that- it'd make me look WEAK!"

Why some men concern themselves with looking weak, I'll never know. By the way, I am a male. It could be easy to mistake me for a female (what does "fe" mean, anyway? It sounds hot!), seeing's how I am talking about how men are pigs.

For example, our Pastor, RJ. He told a story this week of how he's scared to death even to preach to us. He didn't say "some of you- definitely not me- may be scared, but not me, for I am unfear incarnate, and manliness tartar! I am RJ, fearsome, brave, proud pastor! I have no weakness, for I AM GOD!"

No. He admitted his weakness, and for me, that is a very Christian thing. We ARE weak. We're not God. It's not weakness, per se- it's called "humbleness." And I really respect him for it.

I don't know what else to say on this. I will need to talk to my Mom, I suppose. She always has answers for questions- that's something this book is talking about as well. How, well, we have questions (we being the child), but we're not going to ask them. Especially of our parents.

For example, there was a time when I would have, in an honest and open discussion, asked what sex was. Instead, I had to wait until I was sixteen and 11 months, and that was in the store checkout line's magazine rack, resulting in a search of an online dictionary.

[I am joking]

[Seriously, I am]

[I got "the talk" in the back seat of an old mercury grand marquis]

[By my Mom who was driving]

[I was 9 or so]

[That must have been awkward for her]

Team A Update- July 21st, 2007

Welcome the "Pondering" tag.

In the last few days, I have been writing TA script. I no longer am concerned as to whether it comes to fruition in animated or book form, the important thing is that I do write it. Later it can be converted into either. I am currently just about to do a skip in time of a few hours. So far, Ness has broken Jayme and Dan out of jail (detention, improvement training), bought them clothes and some survival gear (like $6,000 worth), and said some stupid stuff she doesn't understand why she said.

Much later, she will hurt some jerk whilst talking on the phone. She is calling back to her Ninja school (they're not supposed to do that in her case, as she barely just left), talking to the headmaster. He is a very good friend of her late brother's, and he raised her since she was two or three. His name is Samuel. Anyway, she is talking on a payphone, then some guy rides his motorcycle up. He is wearing a leather jacket and stuff. She leans out to tell him she's going to be a while, to which he replies (stupidly), "That's okay. I'm enjoying the view."

I am not sure yet how she strangles him- that is, knocks him out, not kills him. I am sure that I very much enjoy reviewing the script, as that allows me to change happenings. For example, there are several things at the beginning of the script I've had to change due to events several pages later.

I do think I would enjoy writing a book (enjoy is another word for love!), but I am not sure how I would go about it. It allows me a vastly superior medium than Flash, as...it would take perhaps up to 25 hours to tell the story- and I am talking animation time, not time to make the animation. That would take hundreds of hours. Probably an hour for each minute of animation, plus time to learn. So over 1,500 hours. Then voiceovers would take time. Add another 30 minutes for every minute of animation. Whew. How do people do it? Perhaps I am exaggerating.

On the flip side, if I wrote a book, I would have trouble ending the story, as well as timing it. Each book would cover a few months, likely. My fear would be ending the story- I still do not know how it will end. I have a general idea, but no...happy, well-tied-together ending. In Read or Die, it ended with them kinda just going on about their lives. That...I don't know. I guess I would prefer that over them all eventually dying, lol, but still.

The first step, I suppose, in writing a book, is to read books. I would have trouble getting behind a character- the Team will be together almost constantly, so it's not like I can switch to what's happening to another character from what's happening with this character. I love doing character thought processes. It allows the character to say so much more than they would be saying if it were verbal- another leg up book form has over Flash.

I assume it's only a matter of finding a book, or, perhaps genre, which provides an example of that type of writing- that is, depicting an event from a perspective other than one of the characters, yet also without a "storyteller" angle, or a "log of events" angle.

I find myself wondering what a graphic novel is like? I should order one. Just so you know, graphic novels are comic books, but heavy on the book. I guess. Not graphic in that sense. You know, like, dead people.

Speaking of which, recently I heard, on the same Harvest program which I saw Fred Stoeker (no time to check for spelling!) on, a Christian who makes comic books. He says he uses the same talent pool as Marvel or DC. That's encouraging.

I suppose if TA can sell, it can be produced. Right? After all, that guy does not hire from the same talent pool as Marvel and not make money off of his product. If he did not make money, he could not hire from that talent pool. Tomorrow is church. I am excited. Details tomorrow.

Possibly the best picture of Lionel and Precious.

It's my Birthday!

Yes! I didn't even know! I went to get water today (1 load for TW, 3 loads for us with 320 over), and I happened to look at the date. I took a picture, below.

It was 115 degrees today, and it was humid (storm post tomorrow or something). It cooled down to 114 by the time I finished getting water. That's better than it heating up to 117. It is amazing how 115 degrees makes you pant yet 114 is bearable. 116 is the point at which (unless you're extensively acclimated) your body begins to shut down (I am serious, you start losing time and stuff).

Anyway, according to the Well calender, it is October 6th, 2003! Oh boy- it's my birthday!

Today, I am 13 years old. According to my Mom. I think I am 14. But at this age, I think I know everything, so that's expected. Oh, I am so stoked, I cleaned my room! I can't wait to see what kind of cake they'll bake me- perhaps one forged of love and devotion! Yes! And you know what they say- if you have three weeks to shop, you spend less than if you have 25 minutes! As for my gift to myself, I bought me two books.

The first book is called Every Heart Restored. Ostensibly, it is "Wholeness and Healing for Women Caught in the Crossfire [of their husbands' divers sexual sin]." This will almost probably certainly come in handy.

Also, I got Every Young Man's Battle. Apparently it is the earlier book Every Man's Battle, but updated and geared towards younger males. It is about how to stay pure in today's world of naked, naked women.

Why did I order the books, you inquire? I saw this dude on the Harvest show last night (I am not a regular viewer- to my knowledge, I have never watched the show). His name was Fred Stoeker, if I recall correctly. He was talking about this, that, and a bottle of Swap! The Drink That's Fun To Eat! (swap pronounced as "slap," with a w). And his book, too.

Plus, I am interested in the subject. I find it absolutely fascinating. Then, the next day, surprisingly it is my birthday. So I thought, what the heck. Every Young Man's Battle cost $4.25, plus $3.49 shipping, and Every Heart Restored cost $2.23, plus $3.49 shipping.

Total was $13.46. Oh boy, I wonder how many presents I will get!!!

When it Ships, it Pours 2

Today the rest of the Left Behind: The Kids books arrived: #7 Busted!, #8 Death Strike, #9 The Search, #10 On the Run, #14 Judgment Day, #16 Fire from Heaven. The rest that I ordered, that is.

Arriving as well is the Silver Bullet DVD. I know what I'm watching today!

Also, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent for Wii arrived. I forgot to post about the Splinter Cell game. I ordered it July 8th, and it cost $18.97 plus shipping. Supposedly, it's terrible, the controls are lackluster, the gameplay is dismal. Frankly, I don't believe what I hear about this game. Maybe I am wrong, maybe I am right.

Anyways, since they all arrived today, it required a "When it Ships, it Pours" post. Below is a picture of them, and I'll most likely be playing Splinter Cell once I finish with Ocarina of Time.

In other shipping news, today my Mom had me order some stuff. I got her two books, as well as ordered one gallon each of refined and unrefined coconut oil, 4 oz of curry powder, 4 oz of gunpowder tea and 4 oz of twig tea, and the tea nets for brewing the tea. The curry powder and tea was my idea! Joy!

I addition, I ordered some Wasabi peas...yeah...Asian snack food at its finest, I guess. We'll see. Their shipping is very expensive- $30 for overnight shipping! Oh...darn it, I guess I'll just order UPS 3 day. Fiddlesticks

...by the way, I did resist the urge to put my name as Kevinskysan Stewartskysan. I'll tell you what I ordered once it gets here.

See Kev Purchase More Items

Left Behind: The Kids titles:

#3 Through the Flames
#4 Facing the Future
#5 Nicolae High
#6 The Underground
#7 Busted!
#8 Death Strike
#9 The Search
#10 On the Run
#14 Judgment Day
#16 Fire from Heaven

All cost $.75 each, ordered from two people.

Totaling $22.10 in shipping, and $7.50 on the books themselves. Weird, huh?

I also ordered Silver Bullet, a werewolf movie. I was disappointed by Bad Moon- it's good on a first watch, but there's nowhere near enough action, and nowhere near enough people are shown being stalked. It does not remind me of the hunt.

Silver Bullet was $5.33, a DVD, and shipping was $2.99. Bringing my grand total up to $37.92. I haven't been paid for a month (somehow, I had myself convinced I would earn some form of interest). In the next wave of books I buy (probably a few weeks to a month) I will purchase Metroid Prime: Hunters. Gotta play that before September 17th.

Additionally, a few days ago, my Mom saw a camera on sale at CostCo. She emailed me. Due to a printer fiasco (?), I did not check my email for (until today). I then read it and emailed her back (after ensuring the camera was still on sale).

As you may know, I love taking pictures. I try to always carry a camera with me. But the camera I carry is cheap. Not as cheap as one of those cameras shaped as SpongeBob, but cheap.

I'm not complaining. It has served me well. Welcome the "Pictures" tag, for everything picture I've taken. Including video game pictures, like the Turok pictures I have taken. Remember that snake I took a picture of? It did not come out very good- it'll do, but wow, what a missed opportunity. And that time I took a picture of that rescue helicopter? Did not come out very good. Oh, man, that thing was 300 yards from me. MOVING SLOWLY. What a chance I missed!

I cannot relate how many times I've wished I had a camera with me. So I resolved to never go anywhere for extended periods without a camera. Even if I'm going to be outside for an hour, what if I run into a scorpion, or the road runner I have always wanted to take a picture of?

Even closeup shots come out blurry with my current camera. Like this picture I took of our goats. That's actually one of the clearer ones it takes. They were not all running or anything...anyway, she ordered the camera. I think we can expect it tomorrow by a miracle, or Monday. We each payed half of the cost.

I haven't been posting a lot lately- I'll explain that in a while. Yesterday, for Independence Day, I made a Flag Cake. My Mom covered that story. She forgot to mention that this is our new "celebration" cake. It is like cheesecake with a 1" thick crust! It's delicious. I used half strawberries, half raspberries.

I am planning to make one one day for our church. It cuts into bars easily, with 2 raspberries/strawberries, and 2 mounds of cream cheese frosting (which tastes like good cheesecake). Goody.

The Team has just received their clothes for their assignment. They are clothes (pants, sweaters) with body armor built in. Jayme gives Ness her outfit. It is on a hanger.

Ness:
"I'm not wearing that."
Jayme:
(sighs) "Why not?"
Ness:
"It looks uncomfortable."
Jayme:
"Ness, if everything in the world was uncomfortable, what would you do?"
Ness:
(puffs out bottom lip) "...nothing?"
Jayme:
"Nothing is uncomfortable, too."
Ness:
"...that would just be dreadful, wouldn't it?"

Jayme drops the hanger hook between Ness' chest and walks away; Ness freaks out and falls with it (not from the weight of it)

New Morning Drink and the Book Reading Shelf is pondered

I'm having trouble thinking of a title. In fact, I am having trouble thinking of what to post about.

I know.

I'll post about my new morning drink. The recipe is a quarter cup of coffee, two tablespoons milk, and a cup of vanillae vodka. No, wait.

Sorry. The actual recipe is
  • 7 ounces coffee
  • 1.5 ounces milk
  • 1.5 teaspoons maple syrup
  • 1-1.5 teaspoons vanillae vodka (vanilla extract, homemade, made with vodka and vanilla beans)
I am going to go get one of those right now. I am tired. See, I got up too early today.

That's better. Oh, I read 2/3 of the way through the Left Behind: Second Chance book. It's a 40-book series (they're small books). It's great- I don't know if it's better than the main series or not yet, but so far it's reading like Tribulation Force reads. That's good.

I am also reading To Hell and Back. It's interesting. I do not know how scriptural it is, as I stated, but it seems cool. I have a new idea, by the way- imagine a piece of glass over your bed, you could lay down, put the book over the glass, put a weight on the book (to keep it flat) and read it through the glass.

Except that glass is sharp- and, as the cut on my right index finger proves, dangerous. It's about 1/16th of an inch deep, nothing serious.

So, Plexiglas is the solution. I stole got a picture frame, popped some holes in the wall above my bed (four of them), and rigged it up. It works pretty good, but Plexiglas would work better. You can drill holes in it, so I could use hinges, and have a type of decorative chain supporting it. So it'd be like a shelf.

I want it to be about 2 feet wide, and 1.5 feet out from the wall, so there's plenty of room. I don't know what I'd use as a weight. I suppose I could pop two holes in the Plexiglas, then have a "bar" of Plexiglas.

So, it would be...a bar, a little less than the length of the main piece, about 2 inches wide with a chain at each end, the chain secured to the main piece. There would be 2-4 inches of slack, so you would push the book down until it fit under the bar. This would spread the book apart. That'd work, without adding the extra weight.

So I would need a 2' by 2' piece of Plexiglas, two small hinges, and a fine chain of some sort. I could put a keyring near the bottom of the supporting chain, where it connects to the Plexiglas, then when I "fold" the shelf up, it could hook around a pin of some sort.

Like I said, I have a SMALL shelf set up right now. It's probably 10" wide and 8" out. It works OK- but it reflects light, and makes it extremely difficult to read. But of course, that's with no book weight- so I have to look at the words, at an angle, through reflecting glass.

I don't know when I'll get my greedy hands on some Plexiglas. We'll see.

See Kev See The Eye Doctor

Welcome to the 'MEDIC' tag, for all sorts of illnesses and injuries, replacing both the "Sick" and "Injury" tags.

Yes, I went to get a new pair of glasses. I was going to get contacts, and get new lenses in my current frames (using the contacts until my frames are back), but everyone said "OH NO PLZ LOL" so I just bought new frames. They cost $90.

The lenses brought the cost up to $175. Ouch. My prescription in my left eye changed by 10%, and in my right by 20%. My right eye was a little blurry yesterday, though. I don't think you're supposed to take eye exams when your vision is blurry.

The only thing I can do is pray that they work out. Otherwise, they had better provide a refund. That's, you know, one step away from stealing from me. I told the doctor my vision was a little blurry, so it's not like he didn't know. But...well, you know. What do you do in a case like that?

Also, I had a dream on Thursday that I got shots in my eyes.

That dream proved to be "prophetic."

It was shots of eye drops.

Dropped into my eyes.

It burned. Like lemon juice. Yes, I have gotten lemon juice in my eyes before. When eating some homemade Fish Tacos. I will post the recipe some day.

Then, my pupils dilated. My eyes were so big, I scared myself. I could faintly make out the face of a demon, screaming angrily in my pupil...nah, probably not. Lol, that's impossible. (concerned look)

On the Box Front, dc Talk's album, Free at Last (1992) arrived today. It's totally awesome. Especially the first few songs. It's some sort of freaky hipster stuff. Now that I know it was the fool who sent the Jesus Freak album who messed up, I'll be all over them like a bear on honey.

Prepare for war, you pitiful fools.

Also, the other Left Behind: The Kids book, "Second Chance" came. It's OK so far. I am reading To Hell and Back right now, so it'll have to wait. To Hell and Back is interesting, even if it does have a leaning towards TBNism. I don't know if the doctrine is correct, but that's not the point at the moment. It's informational beyond the main topic of the book, apparently. We'll see.

See Kev Order Some More Things

I listened to a tobyMac concert the other day (GOD TV). He played a tune I suppose is back from his dc Talk days. DC Talk stands for Decent Christian Talk!!1 Wow!!!!!!

$1.55- Jesus Freak (CD, dc Talk)
$0.75- Free at Last (CD, dc Talk)
$2.00- Genesis and the Big Bang (paperback, Gerald L Schroeder)
$1.00- Promises for a Jesus Freak (paperback, dc Talk)

TOTAL:
$6.45
$16.45

$22.90

If my math is correct, and you know it is, me and my parents should be even now. I spent (say) $18 on the Left Behind books, and now I spent (say) $22 on these books, plus my Mom took $40 for the K-Love donations.

Free at Last is like their best album evar. Jesus Freak is after they reinvented themselves (went from rap-hip hop to rock-something I guess). The book, Genesis and the Big Bang, is a present for my Dad for Father's Day. It's by an Israeli nuclear physicist, and he looks at Genesis as a nuclear physicist.

Zola Levitt, a few years ago, did a special with him and even wrote a "book" with him (like his Genesis book but shorter, the transcript of his interview actually, the book and video can be found here on page 22).

I am going to keep an eye out for that old copy of Encounters with UFOs. It's also by Zola Levitt, and another dude, and they explore just why UFOs aren't real (but demons). My favorite argument is that they have no mass (otherwise, they could not speed up then slow down so fast). My second favorite argument was how they evolved through the ages, seemingly always something we can comprehend.

See Kev Order Left Behind Books

Recently, two of my copies of the Left Behind series have been lost.

As you may know, I am currently reading through the series, a few pages a day. I have also said that Jerry B. Jenkins is an inspiration to me, as are the books.

So, I am on book #3- Nicolae: The Rise of Antichrist. In fact...I am almost finished with it. I'll be finished with it in a few days- probably, say, 4 days time, give or take. I read them slowly, usually during lunch. It is the time of day I look forward to most of all. I try to have something that is easy to eat and is in small pieces, which is why cubed cheese is a favorite.

Also, anytime I have Vegetable Challah bread sandwiches (as I so ineloquently deem them) I read. It makes for a hard reading session- like trying to eat marbles with a pitchfork. And anytime we're forced to have fast food, I always get Jack in the Box, and read Left Behind while eating. I forget when that tradition started.

To remedy the fact that I lost two of the books, I bought four books- the Left Behind series #4 and #5 (Soul Harvest and Apollyon respectively), and two of the Left Behind: The Kids series, # 1 and #2 (The Vanishings and Second Chance respectively). I have not read the Left Behind: The Kids books, any of them. Also, I bought the book These Will Not Be Left Behind, it is a....thing of people saved by reading the books. Go figure.

$0.75--- Soul Harvest
$0.75--- Apollyon
$0.75--- The Vanishings
$0.75--- Second Chance
$0.75--- These Will Not Be Left Behind

Shipping on each = $3.49

Merchandise: $3.75
Shipping: $17.45
Total: $21.20

Nothing came in the mail today. Curse you, ...mailman person. Curse you.

Kev Ordered some...some Stuff

Welcome the "Easy Come- COME BACK" tag, or "I spent some cash!" tag. Also welcome the "Books" tag. Soon to come will be the "Book Reviews" tag. Or, someday at least.

About 4 days ago, I ordered some stuff from World Net Daily.

$4.95 Special Offer -- The Marketing of Evil (autographed)
Free trial -- Whistleblower Magazine 3-Issue Trial
$1.95 -- I Love My Grandfather Because (book)
$3.48 -- Stories from My Life (book) - by some chick.
$11.50 -- Being the Strong Man a Woman Wants (book)

I first was gonna get the Marketing of Evil special offer (wowzers). Then I got of course the whistleblower offer (let's hope for Global Warming issue!), and the rest is history. I got "Being the Strong Man and Woman Wants" because, frankly, I want to see if the author messes this up.

TOTAL: $32.38

Tonight, I ordered some stuff from Half.com. I like Half.com as eBay freaks me out sometimes. Prices shown are shipping and the price combined. I shoulda done it the other way, actually. Oh well!

I got Diddy Kong Racing because it is what I thought Mario Kart 64 was. I got Turok: Dinosaur Hunter because, well, that's the first Turok! And I got its Strategy guide.

I got Goldeneye and TWINE (the world is not enough) because I have the games. I got Braveheart because everyone completely <3's it for some reason, and The People Under the Stairs because I liked the show alot.
